Default Guns vs. Terrorism

Watching the ABC News tonight, Governor Patterson stated that violence, guns, and gangs, are the biggest threat to NYS, if I heard correctly, rather than terrorism. Is this a new revelation?

I am not the Governor, and I could deduced that when I began to see the infiltration of gangs, along with the escalation of guns and violence, not only in NYS, but across America, that started several years ago.............

Nope, I would say it's this glaring budget deficit that's the biggest threat to NYS.

Hola Latina7. Forget the regular news. The most accurate is their weather forecasting!
Check out the political forums on this cite and see where they lead you.
Unfortunately many are mislead to believing guns are a problem. The law is the problem. A gun can't self shoot. You don't hear much about the law abiding citizens who own guns and educate themselves on proper usage. And even though this country has been in a Depression, murders overall have not risen-yet.
The rich politicians do not worry about all the laws that let criminals get away with the things they do. They just keep pointing the finger elsewhere. Our country is being broken apart and I hope people like you keep asking questions and find the real answers.

I would say poverty is what breeds violence. Take away the right to own a gun in NY and we will still have guns on the streets. The budget deficit is the problem, and has really been a problem for too long given the tax rates we have.

Poverty doesn't breed violence. We had more poverty during the Great Depression than today and yet crime and violence was much lower. What breeds violence is low moral upbringing plus a justice system that doesn't punish crimes.
