Default Question Regarding Millport NY

I am interested in a home for sale in Millport NY but I have heard it is an area with many run-down homes. Can someone please enlighten me on this area. The home I am looking at is on a good size piece of acreage and Millport seems to be close to areas of work etc.
If you can tell me more about the town I would appreciate it.

We are moving to NY from NJ. So far we have looked in the Watkins Glen area.

Red face Millport NY

Yes there are a few homes that aren't the greatest but; it's a nice area were there is very little crime. Watkins Glen is a nice area as well with all the winery's & the lake, it gets very busy in the summer.
Depending on were you are looking in Millport I would say go for it, if you are looking outside of the village you can't beat it. The taxes are low & the school district is Horseheads NY, one of the better schools in the area. Stay away from Elmira schools. Just my opinion.

My wife and I own the Millport Mercantile in Millport NY so know it well. Very small town on a main road (route14). Many tourists pass through but not much in Millport to stop for. It does have some run down houses but also has some beautiful houses with acreage. Great school district, convenient to Horseheads and Watkins Glen. Watkins Glen or Horseheads definately nicer but price will reflect this. If you move here stop by the Mercantile
