Hey all New Yorkers I miss NY, moved south feel like I made a BIG mistake!
Any yankee down in NC feel like me?? Something is missing here that just isn't home. Lived in the lower hudson valley all my life, got tired of the rat race wanted better life for family....You all know what I mean right?? I even wrote the governor for squashing out the hard working middle class, never heard back. I have been here w/my husband and daughter for 8 LONG months, he's doing better than her and I but we are already putting house back on market. Please NC people when you read this don't get mad I DON"T HATE your state but the majority of you HATE us northerners and I'm sick of it! Guess what you won, we are going back home to kids playing outdoors and neighbors chatting in the front yard and we'll pay through our ***! And yeah some of us may be rude maybe because you are so rude to us, (rolling your eyes as you here my "accent", saying "you won't hold it against me" when I say I'm from NY. I guess I'm bitter, when you get that mostly everyday, how would you feel. Anyway, thanks for letting me sound off and if anybody thinks the grass is greener in NC, think again, don't come here until your kids are grown and you are prepared to live in solitude w/your spouse or significant other.. BYE BYE ignorancy, hello integellency!!! Can't wait to get back, hope my house sells soon!!! I LOVE NY!!!!

I don't think we learned that one in the South.

Take a look at Richmond VA before heading so far north. Lots of Yankees in the Capital of the Confederacy.

I moved from northern NY to Charlotte, NC in 2001. I too had the same experience. So much hatred for everyone, especially us northerners. What part of the state were you in?

See, so it happens in Charlotte to? It's everywhere and won't really get much better. We are in Zebulon NC. I never treated newcomers to my area in NY the way some, not all treat you here. Are you back north now??

My Godmother and her husband moved to North Carolina more than a decade ago. They are from Connecticut. They never experienced any trouble in the small town where they relocated and they always had nothing but kind things to say about the local people. I suspect you simply picked a bad community.

I'm in Apex and while I don't find much hostility from native NCians, I do find the area pretty bland and with not much sense of community because most people are transplants. I too am headed back to NYS.

We would love to have you back in NY. I have friends who moved to NC, they say they are called Yankees and they are always asked if they are from NY. But otherwise they dont have "problems" that I know of.
Come on back, we miss ya in NY!

I moved to Charlotte from Buffalo in 2001. Haven't experienced much hostility at all. Love my job, my neighbors, people I work with, weather etc. Not planning on moving back up north. There are so many people from all over in this area that one of the first questions asked (by natives as well as transplants) is "where are you from?". This is just to see if someone may be from the same area as you. It is very rare to hear someone say "I'm from Charlotte" though it does happen sometimes.
