You can check [mod cut] for crime stats/population
[mod cut]
Just go to google and put in the city and state and you should get links.
You can get local papers on [mod cut]
If we aren't allowed to post links..I'm sorry...

I know where I want to move to, it's just finding out if there are cheap / decent apartments, and jobs that pay enough so I can stay in said apartment.

You may try to check [mod cut] to see the apartments and location on google map. You would compare the prices and location nearby your working place. Good luck !

I live in Middletown (the Scotchtown area). Places are expensive and depending on the job you are looking for they can be low paying.

For God sakes why would you move to Upstate NY. I live in Boome County and cannot wait to leave. Job market is almost nonexistent, nice one bedroom with all utilities (except electric) in a safe neighborhood will cost you about $500, there is no nightlife and downtown is “empty” after 5pm. And property taxes are highhhhhhhh.
Please reconsider your decision

No offense; but Broome County (Bighamton area) is not all there is to Upstate NY. I am also moving back to Upstate Ny (Rochester) from North Carolina and am very excited about doing so. The taxes pretty much even out when you facotr in the other costs of living; all of which are cheaper in upstate ny.
