Hi J&A,

New York publishes a list of school rankings, but Wappingers and Arlington are very different. Wappingers is what I would call a typical school district I can find in almost any community. I am not talkign about rankings here, I am speaking of the buildings thenselves. Arlington other the other had is one of those Mega Schools. If your child is entering either district in the lower grades, neither is a problem. However, I always make sure my buyers in the Arlington District that have children going into the High School, take a tour of this facility. It is absolutely amazing and can be very intimidating to a child (young teen) coming from a small distinct. However, when the child graduates a school of this size, college is a snap.

I'd be happy to arrange a walk through of both districts for you if you like. It is always best to get first hand experience of the schools your children may be attending.

Here is a link to the states report card for the schools: http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/irts/reportcard/ (broken link)

I believe that the OP is coming from Sachem, which had the biggest HS in the state before they split the school into 2 HS's. So, Arlington, which might be the biggest HS in the state or one of the biggest, shouldn't be as big of deal, I'm guessing.
