EAST END MISFIT is on a distinguished road
Default New guy with a couple ?s

Hi all. Im 35 years old with a wife and young daughters. I currently and always have lived on the east end of LI. My main hobbies are hunting and fishing and general outdoors stuff. Over the last 10 years or so things out here have changed drasticly! The open space has been built on at a head spinning rate. The people moving here and vacationing here are very different from my family and I and I will leave it at that. This has fueled a desire to leave where I grew up and make a new home. I have fallen in love with the finger lakes mostly the northern parts (Seneca, geneva, waterloo and recently canandaigua). My concern in moving is financial. I have a small but profitable lanscape business here that makes me a comfortable living although thats about all I do is work. My questions to anyone willing to answer are. Is there a market for a good landscape business in these areas? Does anyone know the approx. hourly wages a business charges or price of an acre lawn cut? Can anyone think of a needed business in this field in any of these ares? Thank you for any input.

The finger lakes is a beautiful area. If there is going to be landscape work it is going to be in an area where there is a significant amount of new construction. The best bet would be Ontario County, in and around Canandaigua. Ontario county was just rated the best place in the country to live in 2006; and is the fastest growing county Upstate. It's proximity to Rochester has a lot of people moving there for the country life while still being close enough to commute for work. There is also a significant amount of new construction in eastern Monroe Co, so you shouldn't have a problem finding clients.
