There were rumors of them reviving the Datsun name with some low cost/fun type vehicles, but I haven't herd that in a while. I thought they were going to bring back the 240sx/200sx/Silvia and maybe call it a Datsun, but that seems to be dream too. I guess they are watching what is happening with Scion and haven't been too impressed by Hyundai Gen coupe sales (or 370Z sales) to do it. Maybe if the BRZ/FR-S is a roaring success it could happen.
Oh wow, Datsuns......................brings back some memories.
When I was a little kid my uncle had one (it was a 2 door, but not sure what exactly). I LOVED that it talked - "your door is ajar", and maybe if the keys were left in the ignition.
Hey, don't judge. I was like 6-7. I was easily amused. LOL
The moronic-and-then-some decision to change the name of their products in the USA from Datsun to Nissan remains one of the biggest blunders in the history of marketing in North America.

Why do you say this? Do you have some facts to show that sales of their vehicles were materially affected in a negative way? Or is just that you didn't like the change?
I have driven two Datsuns in my lifetime. And when they moved to Nissan, I thought it was a strange move at the time. But it didn't take long to not matter at all.
As numerous media outlets pointed out back then, they had to spend millions of dollars to re-educate the public that Datsun was now Nissan, and not a brand new car company which would need years and years to build the reputation for reliable, visionary and ground-breaking automobiles which Datsun had already earned.
It was a thoroughly pointless business decision which necessitated the expenditure of untold gobs of $$$$$ into something other than what Datsun had been known for--visionary automobiles, starting with the 240Z.

That's a great point, it's easy to forget that typically car companies sell very different vehicles in certain markets. I found the website for Nissan Ireland Sales and it looks like you all don't get the Tiida/ Versa which is their primary hatchback. Strangely you all do get the Juke and Murano??!! The greater irony is Ford, which sales mainly SUVs and trucks in the USA but is the top seller of compact hatchbacks in Europe!
I drive a 2010 Tiida/ Versa Hb and really like it. It does have a heavier feel than what Euopeans generally prefer though actually prefer it like that because it gives it a smoother ride when dodging semi trucks on the freeway at 70 mph.
