Went to the local Nissan dealer today to check out the Sentra and Altima. They didn't have any Sentra's in stock. While there, I went ahead an took a peek at the Versa Sedan. It has a very large passenger space and trunk for a car in this class and price. City MPG is about 30 with hwy 38. It's style and interior materials feels more expensive than it's ultra low price. It's still a point A to point B vehicle that won't win races, but it's not a torture level of comfort. The seat we very comfortable, both front and back. At $13,000 (depending on options list), it's a better car and a better deal than vehicles like the Smart.

I liked the Altima. Will try to take the wife there tomorrow for her to see how it fit's her tiny body and severely curved spine.

The Versa is an outstanding value in the transportation appliance category but has limited appeal in the mainstream. I have been impressed with how much you get for the price... but that said I would not buy one for myself.

I just bought a '12 versa hatchback a couple months ago; it's actually the previous gen for 2012 and I like it A LOT better than the new design '12 sedan which I also tested.

I'm using it as a cheap commuter car and for that purpose it is excellent, though it really is more of an appliance than an experience. I would hate to have it as my only car.

I have the 2012 Toyota Yaris which is the Versa equivalent. Tho I believe the Versa gets more respect from critics, I couldn't break away from Toyota since I had a 92 and an 88 Tercel (my 92 Tercel I gave away at 20 and it was still going strong) so i went for the Yaris. Like the Versa you get a lot for the $$.
