Ok, took the wife to see the 2013 Altima and Sentra. Honestly, it's hard to tell the two apart except that one is slightly larger than the other. That's not such a bad thing. They're both nicely styled without being flashy. Interior looks and feels very good. The Altima seats were extremely comfortable. Trunk is huge and with a wide low opening giving plenty of room to insert large items in the trunk. Only negative against the Sentra was no available power driver's seat. That's still not a deal breaker for me. Wife did love sitting in the GT-R parked in the showroom but $108,000 is a bit out of our price range.
I believe some of the CVT issues are the way Nissan programmed it for fuel economy. Its a somewhat common issue with these newer cars, GM's 6-speed automatic for example isn't fully refined in its shifting patterns because they tuned it for fuel economy for all the greeny wines.
Other than that, I don't know if I would want to buy a test pig (first model year variant). Maybe wait till all the kinks are worked out.

Not looking to buy until December 2013 or the following January. I only get to check out cars one day a month if I'm lucky. Have to bring my wife and she sometimes can't come with me because of pain and medication. Just doing a fit test of the cars to narrow down our choices of vehicles to test drive when we're ready. Plenty of vehicles to choose from.

I worked in a Nissan Dealer Service Dept. for a while back in 2008.
I never really considered a Nissan. I found the vehicles had a very good overall quality and feel.
Just my 2 cents.

Totally subjective opinion, but never been all that impressed with any of Nissans exterior designs, which BTW, are apparently headed these days by Diane Allen, who designed the styling on the Titan, Altima, and Quest mini-van, among others. Reportedly she was heavily motivated back in design school in Michigan, by a top executive at General Motors Corp. who once told her that women should not be allowed to design the exteriors of cars and trucks.
Dunno that her gender has anything to do with it, but somehow a lot of Nissan styling reminds me of Fiats (and not in a good way), kinda like a cross between Hot Wheels and a toaster.
I wonder if the person who made that image knows that riveting is misspelled on it.
