You meet a close friend at a social event, how do you greet them? A hug, a touch, a handshake, a simple hello, a kiss, or just start talking. Many of my female friends greet each other with a hug and maybe even a kiss! (I am female). Others are more stotic and greet with a simple hello. How about you?

In my circle of friends we are all huggers, well all except one of us, lol. But she puts up with us hugging on her even though after 15 years she's still not very touchy feely
What if it was a long term close friend of the opposite sex and you are married. Would you be as comfortable with a kiss or hug as with a same sex friend?

Sure. Some of my close male friends are the husbands of my female friends. I am also married. Those who kiss me on the cheek--the maneuver goes like this:
Extend and clasp right hands but do not shake.
Step closer together.
Left hands go on the other's left shoulder in a semi-hug.
He kisses my cheek.
No big deal. I wouldn't mind a friendly hug from some of them, but this is what has evolved. I don't hug everyone, just my close friends. And I know when someone is putting the moves on me and keep my physical distance.
At least you're not Mr. Dog ... we know how they greet one another!
