Over 8 yrs ago i had a falling out big time with my niece. She moved out of state, married & had 4 children (1, 3, 5, 7) The 7 y/o is her step son. My niece & her family are here in ca on vacation & i met them for lunch yesterday. It was a bit of a strange feeling seeing her married with 4 kids but i was pleasantly surprised. My niece & i have mended the wounds (slowly but surely) & she has a terrific husband & 4 adorable children. Her 3 y/o daughter looks like her when she was 3 yrs old. They leave ca to go back home next fri & i hope to see them at least one more time. Time really does heal wounds & my niece is a good mother, wife & all grown up. I cant change the past but life goes on & we dont live forever. I have no kids but if something ever happened to my niece & her hubby (god forbid) i would do my best to help raise them. They are my family after all. Anyways....has anyone else had a fallout with a family member or members & do you ever plan or hope to mend it someday ?

I've had occasional fallouts with family members over the years....but with a forgiving heart, and some time...they've always mended...Lifes too short to hold grudges.....

Yes, I have with my in-laws. One is still very distant and I don't know if she chooses to be that way or if she doesn't realize that I have left the ball in her court. I guess she just needs more time to figure it out on her own.

Yes, life is short but I don't necessarily let go of grudges because of this reason. I let go because I have a tendency to find the good in what they were trying to do and say.

yes, my husband and i just recently had a falling out with his mother for like the 3rd time in the past 8 years that we have been together, now we have finally made the chioce to no longer to be part of our lives because we feel it is not good for our kids to have her in and out of their lives it does nothing but hurt them and confuse them.
