No! No..no..no!!! He is not whining. He is bragging!! But try to conceal it in whining !
I know people like that.
They don't want directly brag about what they have, or where they went on vacation, how much they make or how much they spend on dinner - but they want you to know that, so ... they will twist it and whine how much they lost. Yeah. Right.

The best is just to ignore remarks like that. Put on a blank face and don't comment it, don't feel sorry, don't get angry or annoyed.
He is not a loser, but surely he wants you to feel like a loser.

You might try to look bored or yawn, or change subject - it usually works.

I know sometimes he actually is bragging...he isn't mature enough not to be transparent. But I know money makes him very emotional, since I've known him he's cried more about money than anything else.

We used to have a family member who'd get out her checkbook during family get togethers and complain about how much money they have in their checking account.... worried about where to diversify........


They don't have that problem now.... thanks to corporate downscaling and the bad economy......
