My husband and I were in Washington DC last evening. We went down to the chic Pen Quarter near the Gallery Place Metro and the streets were jammed with strutters, hipsters, drifters, hangers and lots of younger people who fit do specific description other than they appeared to be walking up and down the street looking for something to do. I assume that is partying in the 21 Century.

We heard the term Party Down a few times and in general the people seemed kind of aimless.

What we did notice most of the people on the METRO and in the bars and restaurants were 18-35 years old. Don't old fossils like us (age 50) go out and "party down" anymore?

Over 40 years old: If you were to party how would you go about it?

You posted on another thread that you attended the Washington Nationals baseball game last night, a game which ended around 10:30pm. You were also on the Internet posting on another thread at 10:55pm last night, so when exactly were you "partying down" in "chic Pen (sic) Quarter" with all the "hipsters, drifters, hangers, etc"? I'm not sure that changing trains from the Green Line to the Yellow or Red at Gallery Place before or after the game counts as "partying down."

Oh good grief. What...you've never been in a big city at night? 50 year olds party pretty much like 30 year olds (they actually use to be that age - remember??)

One more dumb thread to add to the Weekend collection.

So, where do the fifty year olds party, I sure did not see them in the Penn Qurater or the game which we left in the sixth inning, after tiring of the loud music and constant noise?

50 year olds party more than 40 year olds, mainly because the kids are off to college.

I'm nowhere near 50 but I've known some 60 year olds that throw parties and love to party with all ages. Just depends on the person I guess.

How about Hugh Hefner? Still partying at 80.

I don't like parties now though and so won't be partying in my 50's.

Wife and I (ages 61/60) don't "Party Down" anymore away from home, but AT HOME......oh yes, and it's just her and I! Last night, we enjoyed a Party Tray (cheese/crackers/pepperoni), few cold brews, sipped at a couple of shots of old Jose Cuervo Gold and watched a movie. Beats the heck out of the cost of going out to "party"!

"So, where do the fifty year olds party"

Most go to the bingo hall, but you have to show your AARP card to get in...

I still like to party, I just don't drink as much. I still go out to see live rock bands of all ages. Sometimes, I still dress up in my leather jackets and fancy boots. lol
