Wow, there sure are a lot of judgmental people on this thread. If I may ask, do any of the people here who look down on marijuana use drink alcohol? I don't mean drink until you get drunk and pass out in the parking lot of a bar but just have a drink here or there or drink socially.

A much BETTER question would be "How many over 40 have used "street drugs" in the past, but no longer do".

For those that state flat out "drug users are losers" don't seem to know most users you couldn't pick out in a crowd, many of them very successful.

Many Alcoholics are very good at hiding their addiction, even when very drunk.

85%? Maybe higher. And only a handful of those are negatively affected by their drug use. But that's just pot, I don't know anyone who uses other recreationals like shrooms, acid, coke, or ecstasy other than once or twice in college but I don't think I still see any of those people any more anyway.

I think it's a very silly idea that if someone smokes pot, they must be stoned all the time and addicted and living a less fulfilling life than they otherwise would. Most people who smoke, smoke occasionally when the mood strikes them and won't let it interfere with other aspects of their life.

It's just not that big a deal and the people who think it is tend to have very little knowledge of marijuana other than what comes from the news, movies, and that kid they went to high school with who started smoking pot and ended up a crack addict face down in a gutter.

A lot of people around me either drink or smoke pot. I find the ones Im closer to are less likely to use either. Success can be defined many ways. A lot of functioning alcoholics out there with really good jobs. Maybe harder for those who smoke , drug testing and all.

I don't know anyone that uses drugs. Not that I know of. Well, perhaps a certain brother-in-law. In my circles, people would be too humiliated to admit it. But I did marry a recovering drug addict. He quit several years before we met.

I probably do know some who overuse things like Valium and what-not, though.

Currently, I can't think of many at all. I have a few, but most don't much anymore or at all. I think marijuana should be legalized, so it's not a huge deal to me. I chose not to partake myself, but I don't look down on others who do. I know plenty of successful people at some point at least smoked weed.

I'd say 80% of my friends smoke weed. Doesn't affect me. The one who smokes the most is at University of Michigan School of Pharmacy.

Of course, where do you think he gets the stuff from anyway?

From what I know - 0% use drugs. Of course I'm older now (49) and if you were to ask me this question 20 years ago - my answer would be different. Almost everyone drinks alcohol except me, so I'm always the designated driver.
