Survey finds that 33 is the happiest age of people's lives

my best years was at 19 - just finish hs, meet my wife, had my last 3 month vacation(summer break),did not know the value of money and its wicked way but always respected it. had my family close to me and nobody fought. nobody envy you or hated you, nobody was jealous of u. ( of cause we had nothing ) but man i miss those days.........we share, we love freely

boy that was the good old days

It depends on what's going on for a person at 33. It's meaningless to generalize. For singles in the early-to-mid 30's, judging by that Renee Zeelwiger film, "Bridget Jones", the 30's can be a miserable stuck-in-a-rut time job-wise, and dating (or lack of dating) -wise. For some people, the college years are the best. For some, the after-college years, the early-to-mid 20's are the best. The 40's can be the best for some. It's so different for everyone.

Did the survey specify whether it was about marrieds or singles? That can make a huge difference.

That was the absolute worst age of my life... well 32 also, but by 34 things were on an upswing and it hasn't stopped yet.

For me it was late 28 to 32 or so.

I had a high paying job, a nice apartment, a cute girlfriend for part of that time and many friends before they were all married and/or with kids. I always went out.

I also played in a band, traveled a lot, and was generally very happy.

Was there a link to the survey? Is this an average? Mean or Median age of overall happiness? What kind of question was asked?

I would think, by early 30's, a lot of people's lives have settled down more into something they are content with. The stress of getting an education, finding and establishing a career, dating, etc, have come and passed (recently or some time ago), and yet they are young enough that biological breakdowns and problems have not really hit them yet (old age problems).

By 30's, a good percentage of people basically have their personal and career lives well established and moving along, and are still very healthy. So maybe this contributes to higher happiness scores.

Just guessing here anyway...

Nope. I'm the happiest now that I've ever been. It's not that I was miserable at 33, but I was busting it at my new biz, we had two babies, and money was tight. I'm 49 now, am financially secure, my children are self-sustaining, and I have time to pursue other things in life that are important to me. Never felt better.
