You are not getting this. No one is saying that the police won't come, they will. BUT, if you live in an apartment with only one or two neighbors, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who may have called. The police will keep that information to themselves, but the person that was reported is going to be mad and wanting to point the finger at someone, and if the guy is a thug I wouldn't want him showing up at my front door.

And as I pointed out in a previous post you do not have to call from your own phone, go someplace else and call, like the corner carryout and if it is that loud then there is more than one person who could hear it otherwise the noise is not that loud.

I get it all good and well, I've been the caller in this instance. When I was real young the police came to our house because of my parents from an anonymous call. I've called the police on my neighbors several times and the mother and children no longer live there - this was really bad. I had a guy evicted from my apartment building by calling the police three times on him. I've called about animal abuse by my neighbors behind me and they no longer own a dog. Surprisingly, I'm still alive and nothing has happened to me.

Whether the OP asks to remain anonymous or not, the neighbors may be able to easily figure it out for themselves.

To the OP: what kind of noises are we talking about? You say you can not identify them. I would not jump to conclusions until you are confident of what the noises are.
Thank you PA2UK, that is exactly what I meant.
