It's funny how the line cutters are always the ones who want to start some crap when they're called out for cutting in line. I always say something to them. When I worked as a cashier at a gas station, I'd always ignore the cutters and say "next IN LINE, please!" This made the line cutters irate while everybody else laughed or chuckled.

Only if they're an elderly person, and only then if they respectfully do so. Otherwise, I let people know that they had better go to plan B.

It's just inconsiderate to cut in line and I don't tolerate it.

"The line starts there" works for both circumstances well.

I'll definitely say something, but tell them nicely (not rudely). I mean, some people may go in front of you GENUINELY NOT knowing that you were there. So it isn't always a deliberate act.

I done it once. I was 17 (5 years ago). I was standing in one long line. I always had an Asian lady in front of me. Since the line was so long, it got a bit exhausting and I got lightheaded. Out of nowhere, I heard the Asian lady saying to me (with an accent) "hey little boy, little boy, I was standing in front of you" (or something like that, don't remember) - it was in a condescending tone. I looked at her and was shocked, never realised that I actually would do this (and how did she get BEHIND ME?).

And I was so pathetic with a reply...I didn't know how to answer her back. I smiled like a moron and said something like, "uh..oh...uh". I mean, I am usually aware of my surroundings no matter how disoriented I can get, so I'm sure she also dazed off and lost it too. Though a little onwards, I think she sort of sensed that I didn't do it on purpose as she started to talk to me nicely & ask me questions my about my life & all...
