BTW, this site could easily do that too--even to the extent of taking over your key strokes.
It could but the only time I was hit with a keylogger Avast popped immediately. Usually key loggers and viruses happen because someone was tricked into thinking that Paypal e-mailed them and then the click link and are done. In fact most people that complain about virus, malware of sorts if they were honest got them from porn site or watching illegal downloads.

No. It doesn't really bother me too much. I have posted plenty of pictures and if you see me on the street say, "Hey Pik!" May take me a minute to figure it out but I will eventually.

There is one member who is no longer on here that I met back in 08. She was a wonderful lady. There are many I would like to meet and to tell you the truth, some I would actually want to sit back and watch and see if they are the same jerks irl as they are on cd.

It's surprisingly easy to find people online with a few snippets of personal information. No one should ever assume they are anonymous online anywhere. I've been doing some online dating and I can often find out tons of information about the person even without a last name.

Care to share how just curious because I emailed some of my higher level hacker friends to see how they could do what you are referring to.

But I did just get a little more generic with my info based on this thread.

Nothing to do with hacking I don't know anything about that. Mostly people use the same screen name for multiple sites so that would be where I would start, followed by likes and employment. It's not always possible to do, but more often than not I'm able to find someone online with a surprisingly small amount of starting info.

You post had me really thinking. Yeah I use my same screen name for several sites, but that is not associated at all with my linkedin account or FB, I was on FB briefly but my accnt got hacked so I don't care for FB. I think the only way someone could nab me so to speak, would be my user name might be associated with my full name but that is maybe one site, I will check it out.

So I guess the moral from your story is don't use your main screen name on dating sites!

Yup! I have one screen name for public stuff. One for semi-public, like where I reveal some personal info that I am Ok with sharing with people, but I don't want to be the first thing to come up about me. And then one more for stuff I want to keep more secret.

But if you are trying to keep your pic hidden, don't make your flickr name, twitter or facebook or skype name match your message board one!

I don't worry about hackers so much. I just mean, I've made allusions to my job (now old job) and knowing my city, there are only a handful of places in that field. A little Facebook work and, blammo, you'd know exactly who I am. Not everything I say here is meant for the world to know (for example, I don't advertise my atheism to all my friends or coworkers).

While I don't think most people would use my personal information against me, some people can get a little crazy and might do something damaging without thinking of the consequences.

No not at all. If I did I'd feel like I was being neurotic and paranoid.
