Hi all, As a man, I want to know why society is OK with women stalking men, but is NOT OK with men stalking women.

I am the guy who Jessica Sierra, of American Idol fame, has claimed that I have stalked her. However, it was a 59 year-old that was stalking her, not me. I am 28 years old. I was simply sending her supportive e-mails as a fan.

However, I was somehow included as a suspect of aggravated stalking in this case just because I sent her a few e-mails around the time she was harassed by the 59 year-old pervert.

I, myself have been stalked by a girl, and this girl went as far as to send me her panties via UPS in 2006 that she wore after her period. I thought that was disgusting beyond belief.

However, some of my coworkers at the time were like she is a girl, so you should be turned on by that. However, I was totally creeped out.

Why is it that women are protected to such extremes in today's society and that men who are harassed by women and report it are considered either gay or a wuss bag??

As a man, I don't care how good looking a woman is, if she is harassing me, I WILL report her to the local police.

It is also a misconception that women are weak and can't defend themselves against men, when in fact, the case is the exact opposite more often than not. Women are not as weak as society makes them out to be.

I don't know who she is because I don't watch that show, but I doubt it's wise to be posting that in an open forum. Anyway, I've been stalked by a woman, it's really creepy. I have never and would never send any type of fan mail to any celebrity or even a quasi-celebrity. They don't care what anyone thinks for one thing, another they start getting a lot from the same person, it creeps them out.

I guess people still don't see women who stalk as threatening or dangerous. That's unfortunately for the unlucky male who is the victim.

I don't think stalking is ever okay. No matter if you're a girl or a guy. Double standard I think will always be part of the battle of the sexes. I also don't get it.

I agree. Stalking is never okay, regardless of whether you're male or female. It's creepy and unsettling and IMHO..is a form of terrorism.

I think because men are viewed as the stronger more agressive sex stalking is perceived as more sinister and dangerous. Many cases the women being labeled as the fairer sex its considered just an extreme show of affection and desire. Stalking and obsessive pursuit like that are stressful for the victims regardless of the perpetrators gender or orientation. Women are capable of violence and rage as well and many cases have women assaulting or even killing men or other women they think are getting in the way of their love interest.

I think it's a bit extreme to say all of society is okay with this. I've never encountered that attitude but I would agree with D Scott that the perception is male stalkers are much more likely to physically harm and even kill their victims. Just look at the evidence. I'm not saying female stalkers aren't capable of it, and I'm sure it's happened, but I can't think of an actual event.

I've seen a few episodes of this show on ID: Explore Chilling Stories of Dangerous Obsessions in 'Stalked: Someone's Watching' : Investigation Discovery

The host said something along the lines that women stalk men in less that 15% of cases, but that might be low because men may not report it as often. I do agree that it is a form of terrorism. I think in the OP's case, the fact that the woman he's speaking of has had her life endangered by an unhinged stalker, she's not likely to put herself in a situation where it could happen again.

Because there never will be such a thing as gender "equality" in this society. Same reasons why female teachers who bonk 15 year old students get a slap on the wrist and a fine while being admired and desired by men WISHING they could have had that happen to them vs men having sex with preteen students get thrown in prison, marked as a sexual predator and hated for the rest of their lives

Stalking is not OK male or female. Men are still seen as bullet proof in many situations and we are supposed to just roll with it and not make a fuss. Hey if a woman is coming on to you, any woman you better take advantage of that or risk being labelled as gay or weird.
We are supposed to be tough enough not to care but a woman with an agenda can be very dangerous especially if she is stalking you. She could even rough herself up and blame you and guess who the cops will believe ntil the truth comes out but i nthe mean time your life will be miserable.
People are weird and it is best not to encourage any of the wackos out there.
