I talk to my mom weekly by phone, and more often as needed. She lives 4 hours away, and my dad is in a nursing home, so sometimes situations arise that require more than the usual weekly catch up call.

When I was younger and lived in the same town as my mom, I did not appreciate the daily talks or visits or intrusions...but that was when I was young & thought I knew it all. I have a totally different perspective now. It's time to grow up and deal with mom issues now, because one day you will regret your current attitude and wish you had acted differently.

3 times a week sounds like a good number to chat on the phone.

My 25 year old daughter has lived out of state since she went off to college. DD calls me almost everyday. Most of the time it is only for a quick question or a few sentences about how her day is going, but we also have long conversations about once a week..

Hmmm, when my mother was alive I talked to her quite frequently.

I try to talk every other day or maybe every two days.

I wish I could talk to my mother. She's been dead since 2009. You never appreciate what you've got until it's gone.

I think there are different rules for sons as opposed to daughters, when it comes to how often one talks to their mother. Society sees a man as a mama's boy if he talks to his mother everyday. It's much, much more acceptable if a daughter talks to her mom daily.

In my honest opinion, I think a man talking or texting to his mother about once a week is just right...not every single day. I'm a lady who's an only child w/ overprotective, elderly parents who recently moved out of my parents' house almost a year ago. I've talked to my mom everyday with the exception of one day.
