I have a close relative who makes snide comments and judgments about my clothing every time he sees me. It's so rude and annoying but I have not figured out a way to counter-control this. In the past he has insulted my clothing and then the following week he will be wearing the same or similar clothing. Also in many conversations he wants to dominate the conversation and the topic has to be about what I am wearing. It's weird, obsessive, and irritating. Do you all have any good tips?

Why do you even have to spend time with this person?

I don't spend much time with him: it happens in passing.

Tell him you do not appreciate the comments, What you wear should have no bearing on spending time with family. Say it and mean it.

You could say something like, "Look, since you apparently run right out and try to purchase something similar, why don't you just ask me where I got this? Be glad to share..." and smile. Maybe?

How old is this person? Is he closely related?

How does he treat other family members?

Are you dressing sleazy? or is it something like, "ew your wearing a Hollister shirt"

If I were you Id probably accept it, just be like "ya ya I know" and shrug it off. When he sees you dont care maybe hell stop pressing it on you.

My idea is to just let him win, but really your the one whos winning lol

just stop feeding him, wear what you wear and say no more.

I don't say anything. I'm a man. Other men usually don't make comments about other men's clothing.
