I got this idea from the "what life lessons did you learn from high school?" thread and was curious what you all took away from college.

For me:
Middle school, high school...they never leave. You just have to learn to cope and adjust.
Don't expect that just because you treat people as people, that they'd do the same.
Give your best but don't expect that everyone will see your hard work.
You came into this world alone and you'll leave alone. But navigating this life requires interaction with others. You need people.
Rejection sucks but it's not the end of the world
Many times even the people who speak with conviction don't really know what the heck they're talking about
Trust your instincts.

I learned that most people are inherently stupid, selfish beasts by nature.

They are spoon fed media bites and are gullible to the whims of any political party at any time.

I also learned that I really love cats and that I don't look half bad in a lime green polo shirt.

Money is what makes the world go around. It is also the only thing that matters.

If you want to do something and cannot think of a good reason not to do it, always do it.

You know what didn't much for high school but college was a was different beast. Since I graduated they were some good a fun times and very eye opening.

The world is bigger than you are.
You cant control or force peoples behaviors or how they feel.
To be ready to challenge and be challenged.
That conventional wisdom is more conventional than wisdom
That the labels you give yourself are a part of you but they are not the whole you
Dwelling on people doing the opposite of you is pointless
Some people are into and do things different than me no problem
Normal is whatever
Most folks who want to "help" just want to dictate to you
Stay critical and analytical see the bigger picture than what is in front of you
No matter what you do many will tell you your not doing it right
Your needs in life are up to you not anyone else's standards

Overall as long as you bring no harm to yourself or anyone else then don't worry about what anyone else says.

Sorry long winded list but I loved college.

*I learned that college classes teach you almost nothing about the real world. You will learn much more on the job than you ever learned in a college class.
*You learn so much about people living in a dorm.
*You will appreciate what you have after living in an apartment on minimum wage and your financial aide refund.
*College loans are a way of life and should not be stressed about since that is the only way most average Joes go to college.
*If you don't meet your future spouse in college it is harder to meet them outside of college.
