Back to the East Bay I go, but as I sit here going over my list of things to put into storage and things to prepare to move outright to the new place, and I can't help but think of things I sure as hell will NOT miss about this place:

The eyesore of your accumulated crap that's been sitting outside the back patio doors for almost two years. Every time I come home I feel like I've stepped onto the set of Sanford & Son.

Having to hold my breath...literally...whenever I walk past your bathroom. I get an eye-watering whiff of your dirty toilet and a cat box that gets cleaned out once a week, if then. Thank God I have my own bathroom upstairs.

Cleaning up after your alcoholic ass; dishes that remain in the sink for days on end, hairballs that remain unvacuumed for a similar length of time (you've used that new Dyson exactly *twice* since you bought it 3 months ago). I'm your roomie, not your damn maid.

Seeing that algae-water in your old Britta pitcher by the sink. Throw it out ffs.

Being the only one to buy essential household necessities: soap, paper towels, toilet paper. You're too lazy to get basic stuff like this yet can go out almost every night and make liquor runs? Me thinks your priorities are really screwed up.

Cat puke that could remain sitting for days on end. I'm usually the one to clean up the mess.

Waking up in the wee hours to find your drunk ass passed out on the kitchen floor.

You helping yourself to my food. It's not that I would refuse, it's just the principle of the thing. At the very least ask first.

I really feel for the next person you lease that spare room out to after I'm gone.

Sorry you had to endure such a roommate, but just curious, why did it take you almost two years to get out?

I was there for just over a year; his junk outside was there for much longer...need to clarify that.

One, the tech job I was waiting for came through and the only major reason I relocated was because of that.

Two, things started out fine but only really started to become worse over the past few months.

Sadly, this pattern is all too common.

Good luck.

Looks like roomie is not only an alcoholic but is a hoarder as well.

That's why you convince the owner to let you basically manage the place, especially when it comes to who does or does not get to enjoy the privilege of living there.

If you have a full-blown falldown alky on your hands, that person has to go.
