One day, at the grocery store, I had a problem with the self checkout register. (The machine kept telling me I needed a manager.)
The worker who was supposed to be overseeing things heard the machine saying I needed help, but instead of coming to assist me, he stood there staring at me. It took about 4 minutes for me to get the machine to allow me to finish checking myself out - he stared the entire time.
As soon as other customers needed help, he immediately helped them.
Well, since then, he continues with his staring problem. Sometimes, when walking past him, I will look back, and BAM, I'll see that he has turned his head around to look at me.
I don't understand your response. Why would I be paranoid?
I'm just trying to see if anyone have any suggestions as to why this guy doesn't help me (which is his job), but he stares at me. Yes, it's real, not my imagination.
If a store worker stared at you the entire time that you needed help, but didn't come to help you out, would you not wonder what it's all about? Especially if from that day forward, you notice that they continue staring at you...
Why didn't you say anything to him or ask him for help? Seems to me you had some responsibility in this if you didn't even attempt to speak to him. You just stood there for 4 minutes tinkering with the machine while he stared at you? Speak Up!
Never-mind, no one seems to get it. No one else had to ask for help, he immediately helped them. I was just trying to see if anyone had ever been in such a situation or could possibly put themselves in his shoes and think of why you wouldn't have helped, but stared.
For the record, there is a button that you press for assistance. I pressed it a few times, but he still didn't come over.
It's one thing if he hadn't looked my way, pretending not to see that I needed help, but entirely different when it was clear to him that I needed help, but chose not to come over.
Right, I wouldn't have waited at all, but called him over as soon as I had trouble. Maybe the guy's hard of hearing or something, and with all the noise in the store didn't hear your register saying you needed help. Regardless, I don't have the patience to stand there and wait to be approached.

And you chose not to engage him and ask for help. You assume it was clear to him that you needed help, but maybe it wasn't as clear as you think. Or maybe he was blinded by your beauty (but not so blinded that he didn't take the time to help others). Who knows? You chose to just stand there and wait for help that didn't seem to be forthcoming instead of walking over to him and asking for help. Your behavior in this is at least half the problem. Assert yourself!
