People seem to think that if they eat at Subway they are eating the be all end all of healthy food (thanks Jared) so when you eat something there that is less healthy than the rest suddenly it is their responsibility to tell you. That same person would also run to be the first to tell you every chemical that is in McDonald's food.
It is kind of like this thread where people felt the need to tell you that you would have acted differently if the guy was better looking. (as if being hot allows you to be a nosey douche).
More than anything I think they were just being nosey.
would you be copelled to go online and start a thread making fun at a man that possibly just wanted to have a conversation while waiting for their food at a fast food restaurant?
Define copelled...because I'm too lazy to look it up.
At any rate, she didn't make fun of him. She was trying to figure out his purpose and she asked:
"Was this a horrible attempt to hit on me? Does he just have horrendous social skills? Or is he genuinely concerned for my well-being?"
Now, I wouldn't have started a thread over it, because I wouldn't have given a **** what his purpose was. I would have just said "thanks for that info" and continued to order what I wanted to eat.
IMO, her post seemed like fishing.

What is "hawt"?? I'm guessing it's slang among the teenage population for "attractive"?
And you are wrong...if someone acts like an ignorant jerk, they sure as heck would not be getting my phone number. I don't care to surround myself with ignorant people, and looks don't make up for ignorance. Maybe for some folks it would, but not for me. Looks are just not that important.
Seriously, I've probably made similar comments to people, and not to try to score points romantically with them, but just to make conversation and to kid around with somebody in a friendly manner.
Don't read more into it than what was probably really there.
Everytime a guy speaks randomly to a girl, she thinks she is being hit on.
In fairness, I've known lots of men who think the same way.
My first husband for one. A cashier in a grocery store couldn't smile at him without him thinking she wanted him. LOL
