I have notice in my generation their is a lot of kids having kids. I mean from age 17-23. They are getting knocked up and maybe engaged. Why is this especially in a rough economy? I'm only 23 still in college, while everybody else that i know had kids or having kids now.
I'm noticing a baby boom in my mid 30s age group too. My wife went to 10 baby showers this summer. We have 5 new babies in the family this year and 3 on the way by the end of the year. Almost everyone I know have good jobs that pay liveable wages and are looking to buy big ticket items.
No, it is just your age. Kind of like when I went to 12 weddings in one summer. It didn't mean more people were getting married. It meant my friends were about marrying age. About 5 years later, we all started having kids.
It's like KibbieKat said, just the age bracket we're in (I'm 22). People usually get married and start having from the end of high school to their mid 20s. In ten years from now, it won't be much of a baby boom.

I guess that you are smarter than the others who you know.
Getting "knocked up" is not a good way to start a life plan.
I personally do not know many people in there teens or twenties who choose to have babies or get married at that age.
If you do? Make better friends and do not follow the crowd.
Are you from a redneck/ghetto area? Its just always that way, uneducated people have kids young. That's how it was at my high school but that isn't representative of normal America. Baby booms happen when white collar and professional people join in on it, like after WWII where people of all classes had their lives interrupted so they wanted to have a normal life and immediately have kids at once.
Op, I think it has something to do with your age but I also think that there is an obsession with babies. Social Media has taken it to a whole new level of "look at me and my baby".
Because the government is desperately trying to encourage it, in subtle ways of course. Economists (who are independent of any given partisan administration) have known for years that the world population is in trouble, in order to sustain entitlements, governments need to increase or at least maintain tax revenues and the only way to do this is to grow the population naturally or bring in more immigrants.
