In my opinion, the only power you have in your situation is your own personal power. You are the new kid on the block, you are not a supervisor, and you are learning. However, you must put up boundaries. It doesn't matter if the conversation is not making fun of blacks, if the conversation is of a racist nature about ANY group, show your disapproval on your face and walk away. Every time. You teach people how to treat you and don't underestimate the effect of your personal power when exercised correctly.
Conduct yourself in a friendly but professional way and ... as I said ... any time the conversation goes to gossip or racist remarks, quickly and obviously remove yourself from the group. Eventually someone will ask you why you leave, and you should tell them that you do not engage in gossip or racist conversations. Period. The End.
Now, learn all you can from your job, and start preparing to look for another one as soon as possible. And, by the way, if your boss is as wonderful as you say, he should know the law and you should be able to talk to him about the situation. But only you know whether or not you really can. In the meantime, go back to the beginning of my post and follow through -- every time. This is a very good learning opportunity for you to practice your ethics and develop your character. Racism against any race is discrimatory and demeaning to all races. Good luck!

Don't laugh at any of the so called jokes. They are already talking s&#t about you so go for it! Next time you hear anything the least bit racist call them on it.Embarass them for being such knuckle dragging hicks and report them to HR. They are not your friends so let it fly.
