Am I the only one who sees the irony in this statement??

Everything you've done so far was to validate her and her position. You've done it for so long it's become a bad habit. You haven't yet shown you really want to break this bad habit.

Good for your son for finally getting a job, but shame on you for making him appease your wife for your convenience.
Here's how this would go down.
Her: Rachel's just...( insert insult here)
Me: * shrug walk away *
Her: Did you hear me or what?
Me: * keep walking*
Her: I know you can hear me. You're siding with her. Wow I see how it is.

My rough prediction of how that would go.

Well the situation is different. We'd been dating for 4 years and she never got child support, unless you count my money I sent to her.

So?

If your wife wasn't a complete and total narcissist, she MIGHT see how making a statement like that makes her look.

She MIGHT want to PREPARE her son to prevent the exact same thing that happened to the two of you.

Instead, she does what all narcissists do: She lashes out (in fear, actually) when she feels threatened and fears she won't be the center of your and your son's universe anymore.

It's sick. She has a sickness, and you COULD do something about it. But you won't because you have allowed yourself to be trained to take the easy way out, i.e. don't ruffle any feathers.

YOU think that by joking about her approach ("What can I do?? She's Italian! She's a princess!"), you're fooling everybody. But we all know that you are NOT.

If only you would stand up for yourself, you might also keep your son from choosing the EXACT SAME KIND OF WOMAN.

He and I have had that talk about NOT doing what she and I did and he gets it.

That was the least important part of my post.

*shrugs* So? You're saying now that her argument is suddenly valid because she's pouting? Both of you are not exactly in a world of pain and yet you both insist on overdramatizing every little thing. Gah, if it's so bad, just lock yourself in the bedroom and give her the silent treatment when she's in that mood.
