She can't be happy if she can't let go of something from 20 YEARS ago!!
Oh, please. Except for her son growing up, she's perfectly fine.

Almost 40-year-olds who lock themselves in their rooms when they're angry, passive-aggressively hold their loved ones hostage and have zero interests outside the home are not "fine."

She's well paid, but far from fine.

I agree. The money and gifts compensate for what she is missing.

Who do you think is in charge in that household? She's fine.

Just because she's in charge doesn't mean she's fine nor does it mean she's happy. She has some serious issues she needs to work on. That doesn't mean Irish doesn't either. They BOTH do.

In charge ... LOL

Narcissists who control like that operate out of fear.

Fearful people are not "fine."

Not sure where you get that idea. She comes across as a spoiled whiney brat (which is Irishfan's fault, but still). That woman is not perfectly fine if she can't handle the fact that her son is growing up and has a girlfriend.

I think it would be more accurate to say she is "satisfied" with the way things are.

I know it's my fault and looking back on it I was young, enthusiastic and dumb. You know what I mean? I was married, I was excited, I was happy, my whole attitude was " I'm married to the most beautiful girl in the world, the girl of my dreams. I never want to say no to her I want to give her everything her heart desires." It's kind of like( and before I go any further into the analogy please note that I am NOT comparing my wife to the gold digger in the movie) in that Wolf of Wall Street movie where Leo marries the Miller Light girl, first thing he does is he buys her a 170 foot yacht and a house in Long Island because he loves her so much( then again the guy was a materialistic slime ball), maybe it's not apples to apples but hopefully you get the idea, the guy in the movie ran out after marriage and bought his wife stuff as did I. Highly recommend the movie BTW
