I hate competitive people. She sounds like someone who'd tick me off all the time. Since you call her a 'best friend' I take it that she doesn't compete against YOU? She only does it with OTHERS? Don't see how that would bother you.
What to do? Well, nothing. Only do something when she starts rivaling, or competing, against you.
I had a friend like that during my middle and high school years. We were apparently always in a competition, except she was the only one actively participating.
I remember so clearly the day that we both got our ACT results back -- she had scored very well, and practically danced over to me to tell me her score, clearly expecting that I would be envious. She told me her score, and I swear, with the beginning of braggy sympathy forming in her voice, asked me my score. Well...my score was 2 points higher than hers. Not a huge thing, sure, but it was like I kicked her puppy. Her tone changed to mad/jealous, and she said that she hadn't been feeling well the day she took it, and that was probably why. She took it again, but I know she didn't score higher than me because I know I would've heard about it if she had.
It's funny -- there were lots of other examples of her being in "competition" with me, but that's the one that I remember as if it was yesterday.
Tell her that you went skydiving and waited until the very last minute to pull the cord. Problem will be solved shortly.
