There is also another persona of I'mRetiredNow--ImFrustratedNow. Schizophrenia once again rears its ugly head!

Note that both are describing situations where they no longer work. Very interesting.
I pointed this out on the thread about "her husband" not speaking to "his" family. Interestingly, IRN is now posting again...he/she resumed posting after both of our posts.

I was very happy to have this new couple I befriended to my daughter's b-day party (they brought their kids). They're travelled and vegetarian, which lays the ground work for a host of other commonalities. I'm going to try and cultivate the friendship. My closest friends all live pretty far away and these people are local. Fingers crossed!

I'll repeat what I've said before on other threads: my personal opinion is the best friends are those where you have ways you are alike, you have ways you wish were alike (admire other person for something), & there are ways you are glad you are not alike (glad I don't have that problem-maybe I can help?)

While meeting and interacting with people who are not like me is interesting, it is better for short term contact. It is easier and more satisfying to meet people more like me. I always think it would be perfect if I could meet my identical twin who grew up in a different home and had different experiences but other than that is just like me. Now that would be the perfect friend.

I'm glad I just warmed up lunch so I can read for a while, this might get interesting, sort of but probably not.

Anyway, there are not a lot of humans on the planet who are not like me in thought or action so I have serious doubts about surrounding myself with me unless I get a lot of mirrors and start talking to myself more than I do now. I can be pretty boring though so I'm not sure if me, myself and I should be left alone with mirrors for too long.

I think it's important that people have the same value systems in order to be friends. Different experiences and interests are fine, but IMO it is a similar value system that is essential in any relationship, romantic or friendship only.

Also - I am unemployed is no longer a member and I'm Retired Now's return happened suddenly after I am unemployed's last activity. How interesting!
