I'm slightly under 40 and I prefer a day's notice. I can get by with an hour's notice, if needed, though. I definitely need that much, though, if only to sweep up the hair from my perpetually shedding dog and to make sure the hallway bathroom is clean!

Friends, whenever. I don't mind. I am 25.
I am just the opposite. Family welcome anytime. Dislike drop in visitors call first so I can give an excuse if I don't want to bother with you. 40 is a fond memory.

I'm under 40 and hate surprises, so I hate drop ins. At least give me a day's notice to clean up the house a bit.

I wasn't raised in a very clean home and it's taken me literally years to get on top of trying to keep my home presentable for any unexpected visitors. I have family visiting right now and they are very messy so it's going to take a week of straightening up once they leave for me to get things back on track.

If it wasn't for my inability to keep my home tidy, I'd love to have drop-in visitors. Unless they are family!

I am well over 40 and have never liked surprises such as this. And in most cases, even a day's notice is not enough.

Just ....don't. Sheeze, everyone has a cell phone. Call first. Text first. Email first. Message first.

Frankly, there's really no excuse for just dropping by unless you live in the same neighborhood and were honestly just walking by and saw me on the porch or in the yard or something.

Otherwise - I'm not home. Even if I am home.

When I was a kid at home with mom and dad, I had an aunt and uncle who got a big kick out of dropping in unannounced, it was as if they got pleasure from catching us at our very worst.

In a business relationship, unannounced visits would be perfectly understandable, the owner wants to make sure his or her people are performing at their very best, at any given time.

I'm 61 and I don't answer the door, no matter who it is. I need 24 hour notice by text or phone.

Most of my thoughts on this subject have already been addressed, so I'll just say this...if someone can't be bothered to do me the courtesy of contacting me prior to their visit, then I can't be bothered to answer the door. Respect goes both ways here.
