Both of my paternal grandparents died before I was born.

My maternal grandmother died at age 76, when I was 19.

My maternal grandfather was killed by a drunk driver just before his 80th birthday, when I was 19. He was very healthy and fit, still worked 5.5 days a week as a civil engineer, and walked a couple of miles every morning before going into the office. Bless his heart. If not for the car accident, he probably would have made it to 100.

How old where you when your grandparents either started dying or all died (if they're all dead)?
They are all gone now but since I'm in my early 70s it would be a miracle if any were still alive.

Paternal GF died at age 89 when I was 23.
Paternal GM died at age 91 when I was 28.

Maternal GF died at age 81 when I was 38.
Maternal GM died at age 83 (days short of being 84) when I was 40.

I consider myself to be very lucky to have had all my grandparents in my life as many years as I did. My paternal grandparents were old enough to be the parents of my maternal grandparents but they married later in life so had kids the same ages as the maternal side.

Both sets of my grandparents are still alive. However, my paternal grandmother is incapacitated and bedridden. The rest are fine and active.

My great-grandfather died when I was 12 at age 105.

Both my father's parents died before I was born -- one 30+ years earlier, at age 58, one just a few months before I became an air breather, at age 92 or 93. My mother's parents died when I was in my late teens, a couple of years apart, both in their 70s.
