For some reason, calm, logical people tend to [bleep] volatile people very easily. This has been the case with her and me for a while. She gets all fired up with smoke coming out of her ears, and I'm positively [bleep] serene.
But all that is not related to facebook. I'm wondering why the intensity of emotion in this case, and how facebook contributed? If this interchange had happened in real life, she may have still flipped out, but I would not have felt that anger in my stomach afterward, and the impulse to retaliate. I never get emotions that intense, unless something really intense actually happens (very, very rarely). In this case, I felt anger that was out of proportion to the stimulus, and I had the impulse to act immaturely as a result. Now again, I resisted that impulse, of course, but it was the first time I really "got" how some people have these online rage-fests.

Reason: Inappropriate language.
I think her (over) reaction is because she was embarrassed. She didn't like the topknots, she told you so, and she may have exaggerated the consensus of the other parents. By posting what you did, she either had to publicly agree, or attempt to distance herself from what you wrote. She has chosen the latter.
FTR, if the girls were wearing their hair in those bizarre Miley Cyrus topknots, I agree with you.

They really aren't "knots." I'll have to look up pictures of Miley Cyrus. This is more like a big lump right on top of the head.
Your tenacity is making me crazy as it most likely wore on your sister. Let it go. It's hair.
I agree, it's just a stupid hairdo. I'm really not being tenacious; I'm merely trying to examine the issue to figure out where the anger came from, and what facebook has to do with it.

Wow, that's not like me to not pick up sarcasm! You got me there.
I wasn't saying anything that the girls would see. This was adults on facebook. Again, I'm not criticizing the girls, but the coach who made this bad decision. Yes, criticizing children for their hair would be petty, I agree.
