I hate "there's a pot for every lid"/"there's someone for everyone". No, there's not. It just makes YOU feel better to say that because you want it to be true.
I didn't read the pages so forgive me as I'm sure someone has said these:
"You'll find someone when you stop looking"
"Everything happens for a reason"
"God will provide"
All untrue (though I am a Christian) and completely annoy the "F" out of me!
I agree. These are just little cliches people throw out when they don't know what to say. It's annoying and shuts down the conversation. I wish people would be more honest and just say "I wish I had some wise words for you, but I really don't know what to say." I would respect that more.
A couple that have been irking me in recent years: "we all" and "everybody," when used in a certain context.
Example: a person does something wrong, but instead of admitting fault, he/she goes "but haven't we all done that" or "but everybody's done that."
Also, taking the focus off actions and putting it on 'choices'-
Example: a person who breaks a law doesn't actually do something wrong, he simply 'made a bad choice' or 'made a poor decision.'

Another term that really gets me mad is when someone calls me "Young Man ." I am almost 70 and when they say that I feel it is very condescending and disrespectful.
At 60 y o when I refer to a woman younger than I is say "young lady". Nowadays, just about every word is offensive/ Can't say girl, or gal, much less chick or broad. That dictum sounds like it came from the likes of Racheal Madcow or Oprah. What man would call THEM those terms?
Then again, what man would call them..................
What always drives me crazy is when people call me Sweety, darling, honey, sugar when they are not my boyfriend or husband. For one person to call another those names, I find condescending and I live in the south.
I remember going to a sandwich shop and one of the ladies behind the counter was older. She called me sweetie and it took all I had not to reach behind the counter and give her a choke hold. lol
