Never been to a wedding where anyone objected, but I've been to one where everyone wanted to. The groom was about an hour late. No one knew where he was. When the wedding started, he DIDN'T look happy. Needless to say, the marriage was short lived. I understand there were drugs involved, which may have had something to do with his scarcity at the appointed time.
Not only have I never seen a wedding where someone objected, I've never been to a wedding where the line "speak now or forever hold your peace" was even used.

I have not ever heard that question asked at weddings either. And I've been to a lot of weddings in my life.
As much as I wanted to object, I couldn't because I could feel my sister's glare piercing through the back of my head. So I shutup. As for the marriage, so far, so good. But it's only been 4 years and trouble's a'brewin.
It was said at my wedding, 32 years ago. I remembered to have "obey" removed from the vows, and thought I had covered everything. I was greatly relieved when none of my four older brothers thought it would be funny to object.
It was said at my wedding, too, 33 years ago. Hadn't noticed that it had dropped out of use, since vows are so much more personalized, now.
