We actually have another family tradition but it is with Mr. CSD's family and it started out as a thoughtful gesture by one of Mr. CSD's brothers.

He was leaving me a document at his home but had to leave so locked the doors and left the document hanging on the door, in a snowflake decorated Ziploc Bag because it had been raining and snowing so he did not want the document to get wet.

About a year later I had to send him something in the mail and I just happened to have those same snowflake decorated ziploc bags since they come out during the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's Season.
So I wrapped whatever it was in one of those bags and off in the mail it went. Mr. CSD's brother laughed and laughed when he got that piece of mail.
His wife thought it was stupid but she was not around for the first snowflake ziploc bag go round.

From time to time we still find something in a snowflake ziploc bag or send something, it's still funny to those of us who are involved and his wife still thinks it's stupid.

I guess this would qualify as a funny gift-giving story, some might think it's a bit morbid. I was working in a hospital when my mom passed away. My co-workers got together and got me a nice flower arrangement, plus a gift card. The kicker was that the gift card said "Congrats!" I told my supervisor about it and she was very embarassed and apologetic. The funny part was that I know my mom would have thought it was hilarious.
