Big picture.

It's not the money - it's the principle.

The fact that she came into his(?) room while he wasn't there is not ok. It's about boundaries.

"My house, my rules" works when you have kids. The OP is an adult and he should be treated like one.

He had to move back in - which meant at one point he was independent. People don't move back into Mama's house by choice.

And I thought I read he did pay rent.

I do know what she used the money for. Yep do pay rent. I lived at college for a year moved back home paid rent for 6 year's and moved out on my own for 2 1/2 year's. Moved back home after a job loss paid $400 a month, but then taxes came paid $340 a month. Starting this month paying $380 a month.
