It's just the way people are...post a beautiful, thought provoking post..and it can be ignored...post a picture of a cat with a funny caption, and get a hundred likes....take it with a grain of salt and don't sweat the small stuff.
OP - I have a strong sense of why you are not getting as many likes as you would, well, like. First let's look at some of your phrases in the original post:
"I am not a very active Facebook user but if I do something SIGNIFICANT I will post it on Facebook".
"I am seriously getting irritated by my idiot friends"
"WTF?? Do you even need to post this bullSht on FB? I would give -10 likes for this sort of nonsense."
"...FB users are just retarded..."
"...that is plain pathetic I must say!"
Your whole post is looking down on your "friends" FB activity because what you post is "SIGNIFICANT". Do you not see how that attitude is snarky and pretentious?
Perhaps your "friends" are seeing that in what you post on FB and thus don't "like" you?
I think your accomplishments are amazing. I am in the travel industry and I love when my friends (mostly all work buddies) post their trip photographs and they love when I post mine. I just happen to be with a group of people that embrace each other's fun and we all travel frequently. So we look forward to each others' adventures.
Some people become envious of other people's accomplishments/travels/adventures and would rather ignore those posts.
I get along well with my cousins but they hardly ever "like" my travel photographs. I find that interesting and a bit odd.
Don't take it personally. Don't let FB mess with you.
I stopped worrying about all this long time ago, I post stuff because I want to, not for others. I get likes on Instagram and Tinder and what not, but really nothing changes. So whether my photo has one like or dozens, the moment passes and the photos are still there.
It is really not a big deal and don't like it get in the way of your self esteem. I barely post stuff on Facebook.
But do you wish to interact with them? You said yourself, you're not a very active Facebook user. I have noticed a curious phenomenon where if I like a friend's photo, he/she will like one of my subsequent posts. I really don't care about Facebook likes, but I noticed this with people I hadn't "interacted with" on Facebook in a while. As with so many things, you'll get out of it what you put into it.
And yes, it may also have to do with Facebook algorithms.
In regards to the first part of your post - I've noticed that too. Just yesterday, I commented on a distant step-relative's post. He's someone I rarely ever see or speak to - not because I don't like him, just because I don't really know him. He's some relative of my step-mom, and I see him when I've been to her family reunions. Anyway, I commented on a status he posted because he wrote something sentimental and touching that I liked, and then this morning I woke up to 2 notifications that he had "liked" 2 posts of mine, too - which rarely ever happens.
But yes, Facebook algorithms are absolutely confusing and seem to really have no rhyme or reason - not that I can figure out, anyway. It's really frustrating, and it p*sses me off and makes me want to tear my hair out at times.
Honestly, I hate FB because it's a time-sucker and most of the time I'm on there I end up feeling like crap about myself, because I'm comparing my life to what everyone else puts on FB (which is usually only the good stuff, so it's not an accurate depiction of a person's life), but I keep my account because it's an easy way to keep in touch with people that, if not for FB, I wouldn't know what they were up to.
Quit facebook while it's still cool to do so. I quit a year ago and started a blog/web page instead. It is way more satisfying and people can still follow my adventures if they choose to, without me to having to read what people ate for lunch or if they are having a good day or not.
If you really rarely ever post, then all your friends may not even see your post when you finally do get around to it.
They also rank posts differently according to how often you interact with other friends.
So don't take it so personally. Blame the logarithm.
I don't post because I don't want to post anything unless it is of some value, I don't want to post "I took a shower, what a nice hot shower wow!", "yes!! I had a hamburger at McDonalds today, how awesome!!!" As I said if I accomplished something neat then I will share it with friends. I am the type who is not envious, I love to see what my other friends are upto as well and some of them do some really cool stuff which I enjoy reading about and I make sure to like their posts.
My specific post was about how the post that add little value have likes that vastly outnumber the really cool posts... it is just odd to me.

The shower post would get like if the pic showed you actually getting OUT of the shower. You would get my like. And if you think these friends are stupid or retards, thennnn why don't you delete them?
