When you hang out with friends in a public place (movies, bowling, restaurant, etc) do you usually meet them at the destination, pick them up, have them pick you up, or does it depend?
I don't like to rely on other people to either pick me up on time, or be ready on time. Learned that the hard way. It's just safer to meet at the destination, and that way if they don't show up on time, they won't affect my ability to go ahead and enjoy the show, etc. I now tell people, "I'll meet you in the lobby at such and such time, and if you aren't there, I'm going to go ahead into the theater because I hate to miss the beginning of the show."
In my experience the only people who could ever possibly find that irritating, are the people who show up late.
I feel trapped without my own car. When I'm ready to leave a party/event, I want to be able to leave. The only time I'll drive with someone is if there is a charge to park.
We usually meet at the location - I don't like being reliant on someone else when it's time to leave.
