Long story short, my graduation was delayed several times and I will end up graduating with the 2015 class although I finished college a year ago. I'll be graduating with people I don't even know.

My parents don't want to attend my graduation as they are not interested.

As I will have to travel all the way to a different country for 2 days which will prove to be just as expensive as an actual vacation, I thought of skipping the graduation ceremony and head off to some place I've never been before instead of attending some long-lost celebration.

What do you guys think? Part of me is scared of regretting it at some point and part of me doesn't want to make this graduation a 'miserable' event in my memory.

Vacation for sure. I didn't bother with a college graduation myself since I had to prepare for a love to another state right after I graduated. A lot of fuss for nothing in my eyes.

Without a doubt- vacation. Attending a graduation ceremony under the circumstances you note is pointless. A graduation ceremony could be fun if you had an emotional connection to the school you attended, had friends there, had family who wanted to be there, were going out to celebrate afterward, etc. In your case, you won't regret it at all. Have a nice vacation.

Graduation ceremonies are pretty boring. If none of your loved ones want to go, and you have no friends among the graduating class, and it's not even your own class you'd be graduating with, I really don't see the point.

Graduations are intended to mark a transition from one phase of life to the next. If you honestly wouldn't feel that you had properly transitioned unless you walk across the stage, then go for it. But otherwise, go ahead and enjoy your vacation, and don't give it another thought.

For sure the vacation. If you don't have people there celebrating it with you, it will be so boring. Go on a vacation
