Weird, I know. Born & raised listening to Country. I breathe country music. Do you find hard relating to people that don't listen to your kind of music? I'm closer to people that share my music tastes

Our friends are not chosen by the music they listen to because they are so much more than one part of their puzzle.

Pretty shallow and short sighted.

How very odd. My musical tastes are constantly evolving. I like almost all genres. And I certainly don't pick my friends based on what they listen to.

No way I would let someone's taste in music be a reason I cannot be friends with them!

Agree with the other posters - music does not an entire person make. I also enjoy country music - BUT, a lot of the stuff today that passes as country music is crap IMHO. The REAL era of country music was back in the day - George Jones and Tammy, Conway and Loretta, Merle, etc. Some of the stations will play occasionally, and I love it but I would never limit my choice of friends to that.

You need to expand your personal horizons a bit or you will be a lonely soul eventually!!!

I understand that music may be important to you, but if musical tastes are affecting relationships with other people in a negative way, then you are putting way to much emphasis on it. Many things that are liked, and disliked, are a matter of personal taste and doesn't make a person bad or good.... just different.
What you're saying in effect is "You don't like/love the same things I do, so we can't be close friends, and enjoy each others company". It's borderline snobbery.

Some people just can't relate to those who aren't the same as they are in most every way.

OP - you sound like you need to travel and expand your horizons more.

Or not - the world is comprised of folk who never change.

Me - I cannot ABIDE jazz, of any sort. The minute their fingers wander over the keyboard in that tinkling way I vacate the premises.

A song (to my mind) is supposed to have a beginning a middle and and end and you're supposed to be able to DANCE to it.

I see a lot of live music and I also hit the door the very second the musicians start with that "and a hand for tommy on the drums" crap. I don't get singled out for extra applause for doing MY job.

No, I don't care what kind of music people listen to.

I have friends who love country.

I can't stand it.
