I don't tell people off or give them the silent treatment. I just tell the person "that hurt my feelings back three" or "I'm upset that earlier today...." Why not just clear the air? To me silent treatment or yelling at someone are both signs of poor social and communication skills'
, at least for an adult.
I get the silent treatment from coworkers and relatives who don't like me or have some beef about something I said. It's painful. Why don't they just tell me what they think and be done with it? I would rather they yell at me and tell me off and clear the air, than this silly silent treatment.
Because some people look like adults but are actually still children and childish in their brains.
I completely disagree with most of the opinions here.
I myself would be happy if someone I didn't like stopped talking to me & gave me the silent treatment. If I intentionally/unintentionally upset someone I didn't like anyway & they stopped talking to me, good - #$#@ them! I have had this happen with some co-workers who I think are $##@%@##@ anyway, and I'm happy about it. Better to get the silent treatment that get into a verbal (or worse) confrontation, which may result in my getting fired (or worse).
And, it goes both ways. I have compeltely stopped talking to people who have really pi$$ed me off. Why?! Because, if I did talk to them, as above, we'd get into a verbal and/or physical confrontation - which I want to avoid.

I like the silent treatment....doesn't bother me at all....especially because it's non violent.
If I've ticked someone off, and it's not something they want to discuss, or make me aware off...so be it.
Silence is golden.
