Yes, and I was totally honest about everything regarding the event, except for the start time...I left way early and am currently hanging out at a Star*****, and you know what? This is place is packed...people of all ages hanging out here. Students studying organic chemistry (I had a little chat with them, as I took the class years ago...) and older people reading books and drinking coffee. Overall, a nice, chill [drama-free] environment...
My event doesn't start until 7pm but I brought tons to occupy my time...at least I can be productive - like all of these other people hanging out here...and have fun later(and forgo drama).
We don't have any T.V. (cable, or regular TV) at the rental house...perhaps if we could watch football, etc in the background (like my family does) , I could have kept conversation on the lighter side...but without any distraction - I don't know.
I chucked at the "fake an illness" suggestion...not a bad idea but I don't think it would have worked because I just got sick two weeks ago.
