Do you plan to spend New Year's Eve at church, out with friends, or doing something else? Any of you have to work? Also, what do you normally do January 1st?

Years ago, my family used to go to church New Year's Eve or if it was severe weather, we'd stay home and watch the New Year's Eve countdowns on TV.

The next day, we'd usually sleep late & then go to my grandmother's house for the annual family New Year's dinner.

Yep I get to work. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 8pm to 8am. I get Jan 2nd off, but will be too exhausted to care.

New Years Eve, lobster tails, and spinach salad with hot bacon dressing, and Asti Spumante. Watch movies at home on our new home theater system.

New Years Day, late brunch at home and a nap!

When I was single, I always hated NYE because the popular wisdom was you were supposed to have a hot date to a rocking party. I also never understood the point of NYE.

Now I'm an old married and will probably be asleep before midnight.

Party with friends. All live close. No one has to drive.

I'm off from work. I may go visit friends in other cities. Otherwise I'll probably be by myself again. I'm in a unique perfect storm of being single and far enough away from the people I am closest to. The last New Years where I actually did something was a few years ago with the ex. We went to one of the nearby "holiday festival of lights," and at the end of the light trail there was a bonfire, roasting marshmallows, and a small food stand with lots of families congregated around. No booze. Nice and tame the way I like it.

Not sure about Mew Year's Eve. There is a party at the clubhouse but maybe just some champagne with hubby unless we are already asleep. The New Year will be here no matter what we do, lol.

New Year's Day will be interesting. We are on the move traveling to south Florida. We are stopping for lunch/brunch at my childhood neighbor's house from when we were both in NY. She used to be a teacher and I haven't seen her since I was 12 or so…about 38 years ago.

New Year's Eve will be at home, just the two of us, making a special dinner and watching a movie cuddling with our cat...and trying to/wondering if we should stay up until midnight!

New Year's day we are doing a "triathalon" at a yoga studio: 1/3 flow yoga, 1/3 yin yoga where you hold a pose for 3 to 5 minutes, and 1/3 meditation. So looking forward to it.

I've been invited to a weekend house party at a friend's lakehouse. It will be wild and raucous. Sometimes I feel like I am getting too old for this. I will take my own car in case I need to bail.
