When I am dealing with a flake - but someone I like - either romantically, in a family situation, a co-worker, or a friend, I let them make all the promises they want. Then before ending the conversation, I tell them that "I WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU TO CALL ME ON ____ ABOUT____ OK?"

After I get them to confirm that they will call, I promptly go about forgetting I ever talked to them in the first place. A flake is a flake, is a flake.

If they ever do call again I am shocked.

Don't invest any undue time, energy, or hopes into a flake. They will disappoint 95% of the time.

I called to talk to her Saturday night and she had this huge explanation as to why she didn't call me back.Who knows whether or not the story is true. I have my doubts.So she came over yesterday afternoon after my sister invited her to our bbq and she brings her boyfriend.I think she brought him for show. She seems to like him better than he likes her. He seems like he could take it or leave it. We talked but in the end I can't honestly say at this point it wouldn't have made a difference to me whether she showed up or not. You can't tell if anything she says is true or just bs and there is always drama involved.So it's best to let things go back to the way they were and not contact her .I hadn't talked to her in a year before last week so I wasn't looking to get involved with her .She is nice in some ways but pretty self absorbed in a lot of ways.Just for my own sanity I will keep my distance.

Keeping your distance is probably the best thing. You don't even like this girl, it's obvious, and she certainly doesn't put place much importance in you either so just don't bother answering the next text or call, if it comes.
