By going up to her to clarify your meal option you exposed yourself to her. You should've just let it go and taken the highroad.
I didn't go to her in ANGER, I went to her with a smile saying.."you were right about my lunch my stomach feels funny" So when she brought up the girlfriend thing again I just explained I am focused on other things right now because dating is like a monthly car payment.

If dating is like a monthly car payment, you're doing it wrong.

Some car payments are 300, are you telling me the cost of a man being in a relationship won't add up to $300 a month?

Then why so pricey? Are you dining expensive all the time? Pricey outings?

Well you know movies fee and restaurants can be pricey. It cost money to go out and that starts to add up over time.

OP,

You do realize that you DON'T have to go out every night/weekend? There are girls who like to have a simple night in of watching shows/movie and just being snuggled up. I think you just have an overall messed up approach and outlook about life and dating in general. I get that perhaps it's annoying that a coworker hit a nerve.. But remember they don't know you outside of work.
