OP, he put you on the spot, by saying to someone else that you don't like him anymore. If that's what he thought, why didn't he address his concern to you? By putting you on the spot, and dragging a 3rd person into it, he left you no choice but to defend yourself by speaking the truth. And if his jokes really are not funny (do you know how others in the office feel about them?), then it's best that he be told that.

How to fix this: assuming you'd get along fine with the guy otherwise, why not go up to him sometime when it's just you and him, and tell him kindly, that you can still be buddies, but that you simply don't share the same sense of humor, and you were hoping he could dial it back when he's with you. Because he's a good guy, so there's no reason you can't be friends.

I knew someone who would deliberately tell off-color jokes to test people, to see how they'd react. If they didn't laugh, he'd pick a fight with them. He wanted it to be "ok" to put other groups down via jokes, and if people didn't approve of that, he'd get belligerent.

People are weird. You never know what their agenda is, and how far they'll take it.

Say this to him: "Is that a banana in your pants or are you just happy to see me?"

He will either avoid you like the plague or start following you in the bathroom.
