Thanks for letting me know. The article I attempted to post (failing miserably) was about sologamy. Google it. It is a new trend where women (I don't know that men have picked up on it) opt for the single lifestyle, and marry themselves - complete with a no legally binding marriage ceremony. It is their statement that they "are enough," and don't need a partner to "complete them."
Apparently, the ceremony can be as elaborate as any traditional wedding. I couldn't figure out if this belonged in the relationship, or non-romantic relationship forum. It's kind of an oxymoron.
Sounds silly and very egotistical to me, but I think this falls under the category of "live and let live." (I do think, though, that I would decline if invited to such a ceremony and I would not send a gift or any kind of acknowledgment, unless it was a very close relative or a very good friend.)
Oh yeah, I saw this on the news. Some pleased as punch 30-something woman in a white summer dress walking up some stairs to a balcony. Her friends were waiting with champagne. There was a ceremony and everything. She bought herself a ring.
It seems like an excuse to get attention to me, though I can image many people who heard about her plans were smiling while thinking, "What? Good grief!" or worse.
