Ex-wife. Hadn't seen her in 20 years. Literally bumped into her 3000 miles away from home at a hallway intersection in a hospital where our fathers were being treated. Neither of us lived in the city where we bumped into one another.

On vacation somewhere. What are the odds? Or meeting someone from the same city as mine also while on vacation. What are the odds?

My son's mother in law to be was looking over the guest list for the wedding and noticed a familiar name. She said to her daughter that she did not remember inviting her.

The person had been a good childhood friend.

She was not on the bride's list, but the groom's. She is married to my first cousin.
I already posted once, but this reminded me of one, though it wasn't someone I knew, so more of a 'it's a small world' story. At my own wedding, my dad's asked me why a a close co-worker & friend of his was there. I didn't know the guy & neither did my DH. Turns out he was the date of a co-worker of ours LOL. It was the MSP metro area, so not a little town.

I was eating lunch in college as a Freshmen and this girl comes up to me and says "hi, I know you. Our moms are friends and you came to my house when you were 7". I had a blank stare on my face and thought she was trying to scam me. I asked for her name and told my mom. My mom said "oh yeah.. you went to her house when you were 7." It was so bizarre.

Walking down a busy street in Florence, I heard someone calling my name. It was an old high school friend.

Manhattan is actually a very easy place to bump into people you know.

Firstly, it is the center of a very prominent city, not some obscure outpost in the sticks. Loads of people from all over go to visit or work and reside there.

Secondly, it is a small island that is 16 miles long and 2.5 miles at its widest point. And you could probably lop off the top third of the island as its mostly residential.

So most people are roaming around a relatively small and densely-populated area.

Camping in the SouthWest, I chatted with a woman in the restroom. One of us finally said, "You seem familiar..." Turns out we worked together a few years earlier, even though she lived in LA and I lived in San Francisco.
